Eleni Boat Skiathos Greece
Αποφάσισα να γράψω το
παρακάτω κείμενο στα αγγλικά για να δώσω πρόσβαση σε αυτό και στους αλλοδαπούς
τουρίστες της Σκιάθου.
This
article is about the success story of two brothers and their boat in
Skiathos-Greece. The boat is a transfer sea-bus with a capability of about 70
persons.
The boat is
performing every day excursions to the small uninhabited island of Tsougrias in
front of Skiathos, to Lalaria which is a famous white stone beach on the north
of Skiathos, only approachable by boat and to Kastro which is the medieval old
town with a small traditional tavern and an blue water beach with fresh water
running in the middle of it as a shower!
Obviously
there are a lot of boats doing the same thing, what is the difference with
those guys and their boat “Eleni”?
I will
describe the trip we took with them on August 21, 2013 a full moon night:
The journey
started at 21:00 from the port of Skiathos. The moon had just started showing
of the horizon.
After a 7’
trip they stopped the engines just between Skiathos & Tsougrias island on a
calm sea, and they even turned off the music! It was just the sea, the moon and
a bunch of tourists on a boat. I cannot describe in words the magic of the
moment.
After this
the boat took a long slow journey across the sore of SKiathos island, sailing
very close to Kalamaki peninsula, achladies, vasilias and megali ammos beach
and at 23:00 we anchored back to the harbor.
During the
trip, included to the 10€ cost, they offered free wine and beers, melon and
water melon and refreshments!
Giannis the
youngest brother was a great host, teasing and laughing with everybody,
commenting and explaining everything the guests asked him in a few European
languages!
They do the
exact same thing during their every day excursions with free drinks and fruits.
They even dive into the sea and bring back mussels and other sea food to
accompany the wine they serve!
A trip with
them is worth every cent!
They
represent my island Skiathos at its very best. Take a ride with “Eleni” boat
and you will remember me.
P.S. Why I
write this?
1. Because
I owe their father an unplayable dept: He saved my life in a rough sea some 25
years ago.
2. Mainly
because I love what they do! They are honest and I want to support them. Isn’t
it enough?
