How to remove items from right click new (windows XP & Vista)

Go to the following registry key (if you don’t know what registry is, STOP reading this article now…)

HKCU\Software\Mircosoft\WIndows\Currentversion\explorer\discardable\postsetup\shellnew

You will find the key “Custom”

It contains all the extensions of the files appearing on the “new” menu.

Do delete any one of them you don’t want, BUT: DO NOT BACKSPACE TO ERASE THE EMPTY SPACE. Live it as it is (with spaces). Press ok, you will see the following:

Press ok again and VOILA… all the stupid things from “new” are gone for good…
